I’ve been a huge fan of Bobbi Brown ever since I read her book on Teenage Beauty in high school. What I love about her books is that they celebrate everyone’s unique beauty. It’s refreshing to see women of every age, ethnicity and skin tone represented. Her newest book “Everything Eyes” is a manual for beautiful eyes. Whether you have almond shaped or small eyes, Bobbi’s got you covered. I love how the book emphasizes that the best thing you can do for your eyes is sleep and maintain healthy habits. Getting plenty of rest, eating nutritious food and exercising will go along way in giving you healthy and beautiful eyes. The book contains makeup tutorials for every eye color and shape, tips on finding the best eye cream, brushes and tools and makeup for glasses. It’s a great read for anyone whose starting to get into eye makeup or just likes looking at pretty pictures (the photographs are gorgeous!).
One of Bobbi’s best tips is to apply white eye shadow all over your lids to instantly brighten your eyes. I think that’s a great way to look awake in seconds. However, if you have a medium to dark skin tone I’ve found that a light gold or bronze shade is most flattering. White eye shadow can look harsh on dark skin and works best with lighter skin tones. The Balm’s Luminizer in Mary Lou Manizer is the perfect, universally flattering shade. I first heard about this product from essiebutton on YouTube, who raved about it. Not only does is it flattering on everyone, but it also doubles as an all-over highlighter (I love multi-use products). I like to apply it on the apples of my cheeks, the inner corner of my eyes and my cupid’s bow for a radiant, I-woke-up-looking-like-J.Lo-look.
What’s your favorite eye shadow color? Have you read any of Bobbi Brown’s books?
